Views
Not in a released self-host version yet.
A view is a named set of projects in an organization, such as "Payments" or "Everything customer-facing". Open a view and you read its projects as one: one issue list, one log search, one release list, and one set of alert rules.
A view is not a saved filter and not a personal bookmark. It belongs to the organization, everyone in the organization sees the same views, and views can overlap — one project can be in several views. Project groups are different: a project is in at most one group.
Who can do what
| Owner | Member | |
|---|---|---|
| See views and open them | yes | yes |
| Create, rename, change projects, delete | yes | no |
| Resolve, ignore, or unresolve selected issues in a view's issue list | yes | yes |
| Team alert rules on a view | edit | read |
| Personal alert rules and digests on a view | their own | their own |
Create a view from Views in the organization (/organizations/<organization>/views) with New view: give it a name and pick its projects. A view needs at least one project. Deleting a project removes it from every view that contained it.
What a view shows
Each view has the same sections as a project, across all of its projects:
- Issues — one list, with the same filters and counts as a project's issue list. In a view's issue list, the bulk actions are Resolve, Ignore, and Unresolve. To delete issues, use the project's own issue list.
- Logs — one log search across the view's projects.
- Releases — the releases of every project in the view.
- Alerts — team rules, your own rules, and History, as on a project. See Alerts & notifications.
- Settings — the view's name and projects, which owners can change.
Alerts and digests on a view
A rule on a view fires for events in any of the view's projects, and it follows the view: add a project to the view and the rule covers it too. Team rules on a view deliver to notification channels; a channel that is limited to some projects can only be attached to a view whose projects it covers.
A digest on a view is one summary for all of its projects, with a section per project that had something to report. If you already get the default weekly digest for each project, creating a personal digest on a view offers to turn those per-project defaults off for the view's projects. Only the default digests are removed. Digests you wrote yourself, digests for projects outside the view, and all your alert rules stay as they are.
